 Background: Prevalence • Principles of Drug Action: How Drugs Affect Behavior; • Neurochemical Mechanisms of Action • Diagnosis and Assessment • Atypical Antipsychotic Medications: Effectiveness & Adverse Effects • Antidepressant Medications: Behavioral and Neurochemical Mechanisms and Adverse Effects • Mood Stabilizers: Efficacy and Adverse Effects Integrating Opioid Antagonist and Behavioral Treatments for Self Injury Working with Physicians (optional) Workshops are provided for agencies and other host organizations and their staff members. Workshops can be scheduled via Walt Antonow of Behavior Intervention Specialitsts.
Dr. Thompson has been involved in behavioral pharmacology research for many years including assessing effectiveness of medications to reduce aggression, self-injury and other behavioral challenges.
